Five charged in drug trafficking investigation at Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex

(WKYT) – Kentucky State Police say five people are facing charges related drug trafficking and official misconduct after drugs were found inside Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex.

EKCC contacted KSP in September 2025 leading to a joint investigation into suspected drug trafficking, money laundering, promoting contraband and organized criminal activity.

KSP says the investigation found two former correctional officers at EKCC, William Caudill and Dwayne Skaggs, distributed narcotics in the facility. Two inmates held at EKCC, Shane Wilder and Challis Davis, are accused of distributing the drugs.

Investigators say Wilder’s mother, Donnie Wilder, helped in the trafficking operation.

Caudill and Skaggs are each charged with promoting contraband, trafficking in controlled substance, official misconduct and engaging in organized crime.
