The Monticello Tourist Committee met Tuesday for their regular monthly meeting, and agreed to set aside $75,000 for a two day Springfest event for Monticello in May. The committee hopes to secure a rock act since a country act was selected for this past fall fest.
In other action the Committee approved a purchase of a 2025 Jeep Laredo from Don Franklin at the state rate of just over $25,000.
The Committee also approved the “Spirit of the Doughboy” celebration in Monticello for April 10th. The event will see guest speakers including the only remaining child of Sargeant Alvin C. York.
