Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron and his staff would like to make the public aware of suspicious activity taking place here in Wayne County. Over the last couple of days, the Sheriff Office has received calls from local citizens about a small white car (see attached picture) with an Illinois license plate being occupied by a male and a female. These individuals are going to residences claiming to be with the Direct Satellite TV Company. They are requesting permission to enter residences and perform a satellite speed check. From all indications this appears to be some type of scam or the possibility to case out residences to burglarize later. The Sheriff is advising everyone not to allow these individuals inside your residence, ask them to leave immediately then call the Wayne County Dispatch Center at 606-348-9111 to report. Deputies will be dispatch in an attempt to locate these individuals for investigation.
The Sheriff Office has now received a call about these individuals switching to a different type of car and a picture of the male. Now they are driving a black KIA. No matter what they are driving, again do not allow them inside your residence.
