The Monticello Utility Commission met Thursday for their regular August meeting. Only one bid was received for the Murl / Powersburg project at $1.4 million. The city council will have to give final approval to accept the bid, once that is done it’s hoped construction will soon get underway. The project could be completed in early 2025.
Several customers had inquired about higher bills this billing cycle, it was noted this was the first cycle with the increased water rates approved by the city and that water consumption was up due to some minor drought conditions experienced through much of June and July.
