. (WKYT) – The campaign finance case involving the former mayor of London will not be switching venues, according to a report by The Kentucky Lantern.
Randall Weddle had requested his trial be moved to Franklin County, but Judge Michael Caperton denied the request.
Weddle is charged with four felony counts of violating Kentucky’s campaign contribution limits. He previously pleaded not guilty.
He resigned as mayor in July.

His indictment states that he used his own credit card to route around $18,000 to Gov. Andy Beshear’s campaign and $130,000 to the Kentucky Democratic Party in the names of family, friends and employees.
Each count is a Class D felony that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
The Kentucky Attorney General’s Office argued that Laurel County is the correct venue because Weddle’s actions most directly affected the residents there.
