Man accused of threatening Gov. Beshear, ‘people in government’ and children

(WKYT) – A Louisville man is accused of threatening Gov. Andy Beshear during a call to a crisis hotline.

Kevin Burch, 62, allegedly called the hotline on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and a Lyndon police officer made contact with him. Throughout the call, court documents say he made multiple statements expressing his intentions to “end it,” as well as wanting “Gov. Beshear dead.”

According to court documents, Burch said Beshear needed “to be dragged into the street and publicly executed at Hurstbourne Parkway and Shelbyville Road.”

On the call, Burch also reportedly said that before he committed suicide, he was going to “take people out,” and “”going to go out and catch people in government and maybe kids at a bus stop.”

Officers found Burch in a parking lot, and court documents say he admitted to having a loaded handgun in his vehicle.

Burch was charged with terroristic threatening, and his bond is set at $2,500. He is due in court for a preliminary hearing on Monday, Oct. 26.
