(WKYT) – An inmate at U.S. Penitentiary Big Sandy was sentenced for assaulting a correctional officer Tuesday.
Malik Alleyne, 30, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of assaulting a federal officer resulting in bodily injury.

The assault occurred in January of this year when Alleyne became disruptive in his cell and when officers ordered him to stop, Alleyne brandished a razor blade fashioned into a plastic handle.
When the guards entered his cell, Alleyne attacked an officer by punching, biting and striking them several times.
