$21.9 million in FEMA reimbursement funds secured for over 30 Ky. communities

(WKYT) – More than 30 Kentucky communities will split $21.9 million in reimbursement funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced the news on Wednesday and said that the federal support during disasters is essential.

“From federally declared weather disasters to the pandemic, Kentucky was owed millions of dollars to help our communities and our people recover, and I am proud my administration was able to secure these funds so that we can continue to move forward together,” he said.

The funds will reimburse cities, counties, utility companies, and state and local agencies for expenses incurred during severe weather events from 2019-26.

Some of the cities and counties receiving funds include Frankfort, London, Paintsville, Carter County, Clay County, Floyd County, Harlan County, Knox County, Leslie County, Letcher County, Nicholas County, Perry County, Pike County, Rockcastle County, Whitley County and Woodford County.

Jackson Energy Cooperative will receive funds, as will the London Corbin Airport.
