(WKYT) – Following last weekend’s upset victory over Texas A&M, ticket demand for Kentucky football has surged, but it has also brought an unwelcome factor into the excitement: ticket scammers.
The University of Kentucky’s Police Department said that it has recently received multiple reports of fraudulent ticket offers shared through social media platforms.
UK Athletics said scammers take advantage of high-demand events by posing as legitimate ticket sellers and often offer counterfeit or nonexistent tickets, never sending tickets after payment.
To avoid scams, the university recommends buying tickets only through the UK ticket office, Ticketmaster or its verified resale marketplace, FEVO, or the visiting team’s ticket office.
It also advised fans to be skeptical of prices that seem too good to be true, verify a seller when possible, be cautious if a seller pressures them and watch for inconsistencies in messaging.
