(UK Athletics) Kentucky men’s golf played 36 holes in 4-under par as a team on Monday to stand in sixth place through two rounds of the Bearcat Invitational, hosted by the University of Cincinnati at Coldstream Country Club (par 71, 7279 yards).
Cameron Phillips, Cole Stockard and Jacob Settles are all inside the top 20 individually, while Gabriel Hull had the round of the day for the Wildcats with a 6-under par card of 65 in round two.
Kentucky is 10 shots off the lead, held by Liberty at 14-under par, and just two shots off a three-way tie for third.
Phillips, a sophomore, led the charge for UK with rounds of 69 (-2) and 70 (-1) to end the day at 3-under par and tied for 13th in the field of 96 players. Making his first start of the season, Phillips registered nine birdies on the day and was 3-under par on Coldstream’s par 4s. He was one of 14 players to finish under par in each of the day’s two rounds.
Stockard continued his strong start to the season with consecutive rounds of 70 (-1) to stand tied for 18th at 2-under par total. The sophomore, who finished T13 at the Visit Knox Collegiate earlier this month, now has five consecutive rounds of 1-under par to open the 2026-27 season. He played the par 5s in 4-under par, tied for the fourth best mark in the field, and recorded just two bogeys and a lone double through 36 holes.
Hull posted the lowest round of the young season for the Wildcats with a sizzling 65 (-6) in the afternoon which featured seven birdies and just a lone bogey. It matches the sixth-best 18-hole round in program history dating back to the 2001-02 season. The effort propelled the sophomore transfer back into red figures at 1-under par total, and vaulted him 60 places on the leaderboard, into a tie for 26th.
Settles, UK’s designated individual this week, also enjoyed a favorable day, shooting rounds of 72 (+1) and 68 (-3) to match Stockard in a tie for 18th at 2-under par. Settles, like Phillips, had nine total birdies on Monday, tied for the eighth most in the field.
Gavin Clutts (T67, +5) and Jacob Lang (T72, +6) rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats. Clutts was a counting score in both rounds for the team, while Lang contributed to the team total in round one.
The third and final round of the Bearcat Invitational will take place on Tuesday, beginning once again with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Kentucky will be paired with Memphis, Cincinnati and Sam Houston, starting on hole Nos. 5-8.
