KSP unveils new state-of-the-art patrol boat

(WKYT) – The Kentucky State has a new tool: a state-of-the-art patrol boat.

Gov. Andy Beshear said on Thursday that the agency recently purchased a Metal Shark Relentless with grant funding from the FEMA Port Security Program to better respond to aquatic emergencies and natural disasters.

The 23-foot boat is specifically designed for first responders and touted for exceptional maneuverability across all types of waterways.

It is also a fully equipped law enforcement vehicle, built to withstand extreme weather conditions, with the same tools found in a state police cruiser, including a radio, lights, and a mobile data terminal, while also utilizing a FLIR Thermal camera and a side-scan sonar camera for search operations.
