The annual Cornbread Festival returns to Mill Springs Mill on Saturday, August 29, 2026, is offering a day of food, history, and Kentucky tradition . Hosted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the event will take place at one of Wayne County’s most historic and scenic landmarks along Lake Cumberland .
Visitors can expect homemade cornbread, local vendors, and demonstrations of the mill’s historic waterwheel and grinding equipment, which still produces cornmeal. The festival highlights the deep roots of cornbread in Appalachian and Kentucky food culture, making Mill Springs an ideal setting for the celebration Cornbread, Kentucky History and a Day at the Mill Cornbread and cornmeal have deep roots in Appalachian and Kentucky food culture.
The event will be held 9-6 Saturday at Mill Springs Mill with organizers encouraging families to come hungry and enjoy a day of tradition in one of the region’s most beautiful historic locations
