(WAVE) – A Grayson County grower has carved his name into the history books at the annual Kentucky State Fair.

Josh Monin of Grayson County broke the all-time fair record at the annual Largest Pumpkin and Watermelon Contest with a massive pumpkin weighing in at an incredible 1,882.4 pounds.
Thousands of fairgoers gathered at the Kentucky Exposition Center to witness the weigh-off, celebrating a new milestone for Kentucky agriculture.

The giant pumpkin wasn’t the only heavy hitter at this year’s competition. Nick McCaslin of Hancock County walked away with first-place honors in the watermelon category, bringing in a colossal watermelon that tipped the scales at 245.7 pounds.
The record-smashing pumpkin and champion watermelon will remain on display in the West Wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center for the duration of the Kentucky State Fair, which runs through August 30.
