(WKYT) – The rollercoaster relationship between Hardley Gilmore IV and Kentucky football has come to an end.
Kentucky wide receiver Hardley Gilmore IV has been dismissed from the Wildcats football team for a violation of team rules, a UK spokesperson confirmed to WKYT. Gilmore was also absent from Kentucky’s latest practice roster released on Aug. 6, further signaling his departure from the program.
Gilmore’s dismissal closes a tumultuous chapter in Lexington. The talented receiver entered the NCAA transfer portal after each of the last two seasons, but ultimately decided to return to Kentucky both times. This offseason marked another return to the Wildcats, with Gilmore rejoining the program ahead of the 2026 campaign.
Now, it appears his Kentucky career is officially over.
Gilmore arrived in Lexington as a highly regarded prospect and flashed potential during his time with the Wildcats. However, his tenure was marked by uncertainty as he repeatedly explored transfer opportunities before finding his way back to the program.
Kentucky is currently a week into fall camp as the Wildcats prepare for the upcoming season. With Gilmore no longer on the roster, the Wildcats will move forward without one of the more intriguing talents in their wide receiver room.
