Approximately 28,000 linear feet of stream was restored along Blue Spring Creek and adjacent tributaries located in Lake Barkley State Resort Park and Golf Course in Trigg County!
Staff from Kentucky Fish and Wildlife’s Engineering, Infrastructure and Technology (EIT) team, through the FILO program, have put their hard work into:
•Excavating channels and floodplains
•Constructing in-stream structures and bank treatments
•Reshaping the existing channel
•Planting native seeds, trees, shrubs, and live stakes
•Relocating course tee boxes, cart paths, and associated irrigation
After the project was complete, a sampling was done, which showed the presence of 2 species of “Greatest Conservation Need” — the Spring Cavefish and Mamequit Darter.
We want to give a huge shoutout to our EIT folks for all their hard work on this project and for their continued efforts in restoring Kentucky’s wetlands and waterways!
