Hardin County man due for sentencing in sexual abuse case

 (WAVE/WKYT) – A Hardin County man is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday in a child sexual abuse case, according to a Kentucky court case summary. He was offered a plea deal, which he accepted.

Michael W. Hazelip, 64, is charged in Hardin Circuit Court with first-degree sexual abuse involving a victim under 12.

The case was filed Sept. 4, 2025, and the alleged offenses happened in 2021.

According to court records and prior reporting by Rineyville, Kentucky, newspaper, The News Enterprise, Hazelip admitted to having a 9-year-old victim touch him inappropriately multiple times and having also touched the young victim inappropriately.

 

Hazelip is being held on a $100,000 cash bond. He will serve a seven-year sentence in accordance with his plea deal.

He is due for formal sentencing on Tuesday, July 7, at 10 a.m. in Elizabethtown.
