(WKYT) – Marly Kinney, 19, of Ashland, has been found dead at Grayson Lake — ending a five-day search that drew agencies from across Kentucky and more than 50 volunteers.

Authorities recovered her body from the Carter County lake at 3:45 p.m. Sunday. The Carter County Coroner responded to the scene. The State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort will determine the cause of death.
Kinney had been missing since Wednesday afternoon, June 24, when she did not return with a group of friends on a rented pontoon boat from Grayson Lake Marina.
Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources game wardens led the search, which spanned five days and covered the water and shoreline. Searchers used boats, sonar, drones, UTVs, ATVs, and K9 and cadaver dogs. Kentucky State Police helicopters and Ashland Fire Department dive teams also assisted.
Agencies involved in the search included Kentucky State Police, Ashland Fire Department, Grayson Fire Department, Carter County Emergency Management, Boyd County Emergency Management, Elliott County Sheriff’s Office, Elliott County Emergency Management, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kentucky State Parks rangers, Lexington Fire Department, Sandy Hook Fire Department, England Hill Fire Department, and more than 50 local volunteers.
The case remains under investigation.
