Republican voter registration sees slight increase

(WKYT) – Republicans saw a slight increase in voter registration in May.

Secretary of State Michael Adams said GOP voters outpaced Independent voters for the first time since April 2020.

“After countless months in which Independents have out-registered Republicans and Democrats combined, this is a noteworthy change,” Adams said. “Time will tell whether this is a momentary blip and Kentucky’s political center will continue to grow.”

Democrats lost about 3,300 voters and make up about 41 percent of voters.

Voters who identify as “Other” dropped by about 330. That category represents about 11 percent of the electorate.
