Rowan County inmates back in custody after escaping

 (WKYT) – UPDATE: The Morehead Police Department says officers arrested Michael Fogleman and James Smallwood in the Christy Creek area.

PREVIOUS: Law enforcement is advising residents in Rowan County to be on the alert for two escaped inmates.

The Morehead Police Department released a statement late Friday stating that Michael Fogleman, 29, and James Smallwood, 52, walked away from the Rowan County Detention Center.

Fogleman is 6’0″ and weighs 188 pounds. He has short, closely shaved hair, a short chinstrap beard and has a medium to stocky build.

Smallwood is 6′1″ and weighs 215 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with blue plants — and possibly a hat. He has short, closely cropped hair, a gray goatee and has a short, stocky build.

Morehead Police said that all local law enforcement agencies are actively searching for these individuals and that the Kentucky State Police are leading the investigation.

Police advise the public to remain aware of their surroundings, do not approach anyone suspicious or unfamiliar and they see anything concerning or have information, call 911 immediately.
