. (WKYT) – A Knox County man is facing charges after assaulting his pregnant girlfriend.
William Collins, 30, is alleged to have caused severe bruising to his girlfriend’s back, face and legs after striking her with a log early Monday morning.
Collins’ girlfriend said that he threw several pieces of wood with nails sticking out of them into the road to prevent her from leaving the scene before the assault occurred.
Troopers from the Kentucky State Police arrested Collins at his father’s home Monday evening and charged him with 2nd degree assault-domestic violence and 2nd degree unlawful imprisonment.
He is currently lodged at the Knox County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond and will be arraigned Thursday.
Collins also faces theft by deception charges stemming from a separate investigation into a copper theft investigation by the Knox County Sheriff’s Department involving his father, also named William Collins, and Chris Brown.
