(WKYT) – A southern Kentucky man who served his country and was killed last week in a series of murders was laid to rest with full military honors.
Michael Adam Curry died April 20 after state police say he was shot to death at his Adair County home on Chestnut Grove Road.
The suspect in that shooting also killed his mother and aunt and was shot and killed by police after a lengthy standoff.

Veteran survived combat overseas
Those who served with Curry said they never thought this would happen after he served in a volatile region overseas. While serving overseas, he survived an IED attack and other violence.
“I was in my first firefight in Afghanistan with Curry. Another crazy day,” said Robert Patty, a Marine and friend of Curry.
Kentucky State Police say Curry and Ryan Sneed knew each other. Little is known about the motive behind the violence, but Sneed went to Curry’s home after police say he shot and killed his mother and aunt in another part of Adair County.
“It is a crazy thing for a guy to survive two wars, and then come home and something like this happens,” Patty said.
At least a dozen of Curry’s Marine brothers attended the services. Many of them served with Curry for two years.
“Just the love that he had for everybody during the whole time that I served with him. He was a loving guy, just a great guy. And had a huge heart,” Patty said.
Friends and family said Curry lived a life marked by dedication to family, country, and pursuits that brought him joy.
Military honors were performed by the local VFW post in Columbia.
