(WKYT) – UPDATE: Crews have made significant progress in containing the large forest fire that has burned for several weeks this April.
Fire crews have reached 93% containment of the 1100 acre fire.

ORIGINAL STORY: Crews are still battling a large forest fire in southern Kentucky that has burned more than 1,000 acres in McCreary County. The fire has reached 72% containment, but is still at 1100 acres. As of 9 a.m. today, Alum Ford Road, Alum Ford Boat Launch, and Alum Ford Campground have been reopened to the public.
Along the river, the Sheltowee Trace Trail’s section from its intersection with Alum Trail to Alum Boat Launch remains closed to public traffic.
