Officials identify human remains found in Eastern Ky.

(WSAZ/WKYT) – A mother who went missing in late March has been found dead.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department found the remains of Kayla Reffett along state Route 1428 on a hillside.

Kentucky State Police said Reffett went missing in late March.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found Reffett’s remains while looking for her.

“There’s people out there that knows what happened to Kayla,” Sheriff John Hunt said. “There is somebody that probably knows she was over that embankment. There’s no doubt to that. There’s somebody that knows that, and we plead to that person to pick up the phone, do what’s right, call us, uh, give us more information, give us what information. You know, um, if it was their family, they would want it. But somebody knew that Kayla was over that embankment.”

Her family released the following statement in part to WSAZ:

“I would like you to let everyone know how much of an amazing person she is. She loved everyone. She was very empathetic, she cared for everyone. She was the sweetest person ever, always wanted to talk got along with everyone no matter who they were. She could make best friends with someone in just a couple minutes. She loved her family very much. We appreciate everything that everyone has done for this family … it’s not the outcome anybody wanted, but she is so so loved.”

KSP is investigating what led to Reffett’s death.
