Palmer Smith threw a shutout to lead Wayne County Cardinals past McCreary Central 4-0 on Tuesday.
The Cardinals got on the board in the top of the first inning after McCreary Central committed an error, and Wayne County scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.
Wayne County added one run in the second. Smith walked, making the score 3-0.
Spradlin took the loss for McCreary Central. The hurler went four innings, surrendering four runs ( one earned) on two hits, striking out four and walking six.
Leadoff hitter Gage Gregory led Wayne County with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Gregory and Caleb Sargent each stole multiple bases for Wayne County Varisty Cardinals. The Bat Cards stole six bases in the game. Wayne County didn’t commit a single error in the field. Nate Criswell had the most chances in the field with 10.
Watts went 1 for 2 at the plate to lead McCreary Central in the hits. McCreary Central turned one double play in the game. ‘
Wayne County will travel to Somerset Christian for their next game on Monday.
