(WXIX/WKYT) – Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) arrived in Northern Kentucky on Tuesday to celebrate federal funding he helped secure for Kentucky.
Nearly $2.6 billion in federal funding was allocated for Kentucky priorities in the Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations process.
Of the billions secured, more than $18 million is going to Northern Kentucky.
- $9.5 million for two projects at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport
- Nearly $2 million for the National Guard’s vehicle maintenance shop in NKY
- $2.7 million for the Life Learning Center in Covington to address the opioid epidemic
- $4.5 million for Covington to construct a pedestrian-friendly connector for the new business district at the site of the former IRS facility
“My job is to help our medium-sized state punch above its weight to compete against California, New York, and other big states,” Sen. McConnell expressed during his stop in Covington Tuesday.
