According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron an ongoing investigation into the illegal sale of narcotics has now resulted in a Federal Indictment.
The ongoing investigation was being conducted by Wayne County Sheriff Office Deputy Nick Bertram. On October 4, 2025, Deputy Bertram’s investigation led him to make an vehicle traffic stop on Kentucky East Highway 90. This vehicle was Deputy Bertrams vehicle of interest. Deputy Bertram gained a consent to search this vehicle which resulted in 1.63 ponds of the illegal narcotic methamphetamine and $600.00 in cash being seized.
The United Staes District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky London, KY. indicted Franklin Tobias Hamilton of Richmond, KY. on November 21, 2025, on the charge of Possession With the Intent to Distribute 500 grams or More of a Methamphetamine Mixture.
On December 1, 2025, Deputy Bertram served and arrested Hamilton on the Federal Indictment Arrest Warrant. Hamilton will be transferred to a Federal Detention Center in London, KY.
The Wayne County Sheriff Office also arrested the following.
Lance Dobbs of Monticello, KY. was arrested for public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol), trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine) – (enhanced) and violation of a Kentucky Emergency/domestic violence Oreder.
Tony L. Thurman of Burnside, KY. was arrested on 2 McCreary County District Court Warrants of Arrest for failure to pay restitution on the underlying charges of 2 counts of theft by deception-includes cold checks.
Dobbs was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center. Thurman was released from custody after posting a Bond.
