The Monticello City Council met Monday for their regular November session.
It was announced at last night’s meeting of the Monticello City Council that Gabe Heatherly had tendered his resignation as local fire chief. Heatherly who now has a position with the Somerset Fire Department offered to remain as volunteer fire chief noting that money could be freed up to use toward equipment purchases or to hire an administrative position for the department. Following a lengthy discussion, no action was taken.
Local residents enjoy eating out as the 3% local restaurant tax brought in $51,874 for September.
Also during the meeting, it was noted there are 10 properties about to be served for violations by the Code Enforcement Board with an additional 28 properties eligible for notices to be served in January.
The ABC report showed that for the month of September there were $335,432 of sales in the city with a collection of fees totaling $16,265.
