According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron the Wayne County Sheriff Office’s continuing undercover investigations by Deputy Nick Bertram into the sale of illegal narcotics has resulted in another arrest.Deputy Bertram’s investigation revealed information about illegal narcotics being transported into Wayne County on October 7, 2025. While conducting surveillance and monitoring traffic on East Kentucky Highway 90 Deputy Bertram observed the target vehicle traveling west at approximately 5:10 pm. While following this vehicle Deputy Bertram observed it operating in a careless manner. Deputy Bertram then conducted a vehicle traffic stop and identified the operator as his person of interest in his investigation. While running a records check on the operator Deputy Bertram learned that the operator’s driver’s license was suspended. A consent for a search of the vehicle was obtained and during the search Deputy Bertram located a plastic bag containing a crystal like substance consistent with being methamphetamine. The operator stated it was methamphetamine which he had just purchased.
Deputy Bertram then charged and arrested Austin T. Boston of Monticello, KY. for careless driving, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license and trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine).
While processing paperwork at the Wayne County Sheriff Office the crystal substance tested positive as being methamphetamine using the Tru-Narc Narcotic Analysis Instrument with a total weight of 24.91 grams.
Boston was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
Deputy Bertram was assisted by Deputy Valis Smedley. The investigation is continuing by Deputy Bertram with additional arrested possible.
