Enhancing Emergency Response: Why We Added the LUCAS 3 Device
Wayne County EMS has added a LUCAS 3 chest compression system to our service to strengthen lifesaving care during cardiac emergencies. This device delivers consistent, high-quality chest compressions—improving blood flow to vital organs when every second counts.
Manual CPR can be physically demanding and difficult to maintain during transport. The LUCAS 3 allows our team to focus on other critical interventions while ensuring uninterrupted compressions, even en route to the hospital.
Judge Executive Scott Gehring, a longtime paramedic, shared:
“When you’re in the back of an ambulance working a cardiac arrest, every second matters. The LUCAS 3 gives our team the ability to deliver precise, continuous compressions while freeing up hands for airway management and medication. It’s a game-changer for rural EMS.”
