Two Police Officers Receive Promotions

Two members of the Monticello Police Department were promoted by Mayor Kenny Catron & Chief Joey Hoover during the August 12th meeting of the Monticello City Council.
With family members and all MPD Officers present, Josh Asberry was promoted from Lieutenant to Assistant Police Chief and Joshua Smith was promoted from Patrolman to Sergeant.
Major Asberry has 18 years of law enforcement experience, having joined the Monticello Police Department as Patrolman in June 2015. He was promoted to Police Lieutenant in April 2019 and since that time has continued to better himself in both performance and specialized supervisory training.
Sgt. Smith joined the Monticello Police Department in June 2021 and has successfully completed all required training and duty assignments since. He comes to work daily with a positive attitude and is always ready to help within the department and in our community.
Congratulations to both of these men and their families. Your dedication to the Monticello Police Department and service to the citizens of Monticello is greatly appreciated!
