(WYMT) – A Campbell County, Tennessee woman entered a guilty plea in connection with a 2024 crash that killed a man in Whitley County.
Court records show Gracie Perkins, 20, of LaFollette, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide while under the influence of drugs or a controlled substance.
According to the indictment, the charge stems from a July 30, 2024 incident where Perkins caused the death of Johnny Moore while operating a vehicle on a public highway under the influence.
The case was investigated by the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department.
Under the terms of the plea agreement filed Wednesday, the Commonwealth recommended a 10-year sentence, with the balance probated for five years following 20 months in custody.
The agreement also requires Perkins to be evaluated for substance abuse treatment, complete all recommended care, and have no contact with the victim’s family. Restitution will be determined at sentencing.
Perkins is scheduled to appear in court for final sentencing on Nov. 16, pending the completion of a pre-sentence investigation report by the Division of Probation and Parole.
