. (WKYT) – Monday, Oct. 5, marks the deadline to register to vote in Kentucky’s General Election on Nov. 3.
To register, people can visit Kentucky’s online Voter Information Portal, mail a voter registration application to their County Clerk’s office or go to their local County Clerk’s Office to submit an application in person, according to the State Board of Elections.
The Voter Information Portal can also be used to check and update voter registration.
People must register no later than 4 p.m. local time on Monday. In order to register in Kentucky, people must meet the following requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen and Kentucky resident for at least 28 days before the election
- Be at least 18 years old by the General Election
- Not be a convicted felon, unless right to vote has been resorted following expungement, executive pardon or executive order
- Not have been judged mentally incompetent in a court of law and had voting rights removed
- Not claim the right to vote elsewhere
The last day to request absentee ballots is also approaching, with a deadline of Oct. 20.
