Wayne County’s unemployment rate remained 7.6 percent in July 2026, higher than the statewide average of 4.7 percent, and the highest rate in the 10 county region according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Kentucky Center for Statistics. Other counties included McCreary County at 6.8% Russell County at 4.8, Clinton county is at 5.7, & Pulaski at 5.3.
