(WKYT) – A Whitley County woman was arrested on Wednesday after sheriff’s deputies said she stole money from an elderly woman in Laurel County.
Jasmine Elswick, 27, of Woodbine, is charged with theft by unlawful taking between $1,000 and $10,000.
Elswick was arrested after an investigation found that she allegedly gained access to the bank account of an 88-year-old woman with the victim’s knowledge or consent.
She is alleged to have spent over $9,000 in stolen money on personal bills.
Elswick was lodged at the Laurel County Correctional Center but has since bonded out.
