The Wayne County Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, July 16. During the meeting, the board heard an update on the status of the Walker Early Learning Center Renovation Project. As of now, the project remains on track to allow for the opening of school as scheduled on August 12. The board also approved a contract with Cumberland Family Medical to continue providing school health services for the 2026-2027 school year.
In other business, the board:
- Approved the second reading of KSBA Policy Update #49.
- Approved pay request #5 for the Walker Early Learning Center Renovation project.
- Approved paying an invoice to DECO Architects for professional services related to the Walker Early Learning Center Renovation.
- Approved a capital outlay fund transfer in the amount of $103,795.90 for HVAC and sewage pump repairs at Monticello Elementary.
- Approved the procurement plan for the child nutrition department.
