The Monticello Police Department would like to welcome back Officer Mike Neal!
Officer Mike Neal was officially sworn in by Mayor Kenny Catron on July 15, 2026.
Officer Neal returns to the Monticello Police Department after retiring from the department in August 2025, following more than 33 years of dedicated law enforcement service. After his retirement, Officer Neal was employed by the Kentucky Horse Park. He is also a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.
In addition to his law enforcement career, Officer Neal serves as the Pastor of Christ the King Anglican Church in McCreary County and will also serve as the Chaplain for the Monticello Police Department.
Major Smith shared the following regarding Officer Neal’s return:
“We’re excited to welcome Officer Neal back to the Monticello Police Department. We’ve already seen his dedication and the positive relationships he’s built within our community, and we look forward to him continuing to serve our citizens with that same commitment and professionalism.”
Welcome back, Mikey! We figured retirement just wasn’t exciting enough… and we left your patrol car exactly where you parked it… give or take a few thousand miles.
