(WKYT) – KSP’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division is taking part in Operation Safe Driver Week, a national initiative intended to reduce crashes.
The operation is during the week of July 12 to July 18.
KSP says during the week, KSP CVE officers and inspectors will be focusing on stopping vehicle drivers who are distracted, speeding, improperly changing lanes, and failing to wear seatbelts.
Drivers should practice the following safe driving behaviors, according to KSP:
- Slow down, KSP says speeding is among the top factors of fatal crashes
- Give trucks plenty of space as larger vehicles need extra stopping distance
- Wear seatbelts
- Report unsafe drivers to KSP or local law enforcement
