McCreary Co. man indicted on credit card fraud, theft by deception charges

According to the indictment, Marcus W. Saunders, 52, was charged with Fraudulent Use of a Credit/Gift Card Over $10,000.

Investigators allege that between Jan. 18, 2025 and May 15, 2025, Saunders knowingly and unlawfully used a credit card issued to another man to obtain merchandise totaling $31,759.22 within a six-month period, despite not being authorized to use the card.

Saunders is also charged with Theft by Deception ($500 to less than $1,000).

The indictment alleges Saunders created or reinforced a false impression to take $865.08 from the victim by charging the amount to the victim’s Lumber King account without permission, intending to deprive the victim of that property.

The indictment lists a Kentucky State Police detective as a witness.

A separate Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office uniform citation indicates deputies served an indictment warrant in the case.

The citation lists the charges as fraudulent use of a credit/gift card over $10,000 and theft by deception involving cold checks in the $500-to-$1,000 range.
