(WKYT) – A group of London voters is suing to have London Mayor Randall Weddle’s name taken off the ballot, claiming he does not meet the city’s residency requirement.
In a new Laurel County Circuit Court filing, voter James Phelps and others say Randall Weddle lives on East Highway 552 in Keavy, outside the city limits. They say Weddle listed a London address on East Fifth Street when he filed to run, but neighbors there plan to testify he has never lived at that property.
The suit cites Kentucky law that requires a mayoral candidate to live in the city for at least one year before the election.
The voters want a judge to rule Weddle is not a bona fide candidate and to order the county clerk to remove his name from the 2026 ballot or not count any votes cast for him.
Weddle is also facing four felony charges for violating campaign contribution restriction and expenditure limits. He pleaded not guilty to those charges.
Weddle has not responded to a request for comment.
