(WAVE/WKYT) – Police are searching for an inmate from the Nelson County Correctional Center who reportedly walked off during an inmate work program on Tuesday.
Officials said that the inmate, Jerry Nation, left around 3:30 p.m. near Wire Lane while he was participating in garbage pickup duties.
Nation was serving a 12-month sentence and was scheduled for release in November of this year. As a result of the walk-off, he will face additional charges and could receive up to an additional five years of incarceration.
Local law enforcement agencies have been notified and are actively working to find Nation.
Anyone with information regarding Nation’s location is asked to call 911 and not to approach him.
