Not guilty plea entered for former UK student indicted in baby’s death

(WKYT) – A not guilty plea was entered in the case of a former University of Kentucky student who was indicted in connection with her baby’s death during an arraignment hearing Friday.

Laken Snelling had been indicted on multiple charges, including first-degree manslaughter, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence and concealing the birth of an infant, according to court documents.

Snelling was charged in the death of her baby, and is accused of hiding the birth, putting the baby’s body in a closet.

A pretrial conference was scheduled for May 14, and a status hearing in Snelling’s case was scheduled for June 12.
