ccording to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a tip of a possible location of what was believed to be stolen fencing has resulted in a Wayne County man being arrested on multiple charges.
On December 8, 2025, the Sheriff Office received a tip of a location where the believed to be stolen fencing was located. Sheriff Catron then made contact with a local business to see if they had any fencing missing. The local business checked their inventory and found several thousand dollars of fencing missing and later identified the fencing as belong to them. Wayne County Sheriff Office Deputies Valis Smedley and James Barnett recovered the fencing and started conducting interviews with several different people. During these interviews a suspect was identified as well as other locations where possible other stolen items may have been. No other stolen items were located so far.
On December 9, 2025, Deputy Smedley obtained a Wayne County District Court Complaint Warrant of Arrest for a Bobby Barnes of Monticello, KY. for the charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition-all others (greater than $1,000.00 but less than $10,000.00), criminal trespassing-2nd degree and criminal mischief-1st degree. Deputies Smedley and James Barnett then executed the arrest warrant on Barnes at his residence located on Twyfords Point Road.
During the arrested of Barnes Deputies located 3 different types of illegal narcotics on his person including drug paraphernalia. Deputies also charged and arrested Barnes for possession of a controlled substace-1st degree (methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (drug unspecified), possession of a controlled substace-3rd degree (drug unspecified) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Barnes was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
Deputy Smedley is continuing with the investigation.
The Wayne County Sheriff Office also arrested the following on December 9, 2025.
David Neu of Nancy, KY. was arrested on a Wayne County Family Court Forthwith Order of Arrest for Contempt of Court for violation of the terms or conditions of an Order or Judgement of the Court.
Kayla D. Tucker of Monticello, KY. was arrested on a Pulaski County District Court Warrant of Arrest for failure to appear for Arraignment on the underlying charges of failure of owner to maintain required insurance and failure to produce an insurances card.
Neu was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center. Tucker was released from custody after posting a Bond.
