The Monticello City Council met Monday for their December meeting. The Council heard a discussion about an ordinance to create a tax increment financing district. The district would cover a 6 acre area around the Centaurus location on highway 1275. Further action was tabled until more information can be obtained. If approved the developer would receive a portion of the city & county property taxes for 20 years as well as from occupational taxes taken in by the County.
In other activity from the meeting, it was noted by code enforcement that nine properties are currently under active penalties. Alcohol sale for the city in November totaled $332,567 with $16,232 collected in fees for the city.
Alyssa Bertram Denny was appointed to the housing authority.
