Tuesday morning, MPD Officers underwent their annual re-certification in using their department-issued “TASER”.
A TASER is a hand-held, non-lethal weapon that uses compressed gas to propel two electrical probes (barbs) at a target, delivering a high-voltage, low-current electrical charge.
This charge can temporarily incapacitate a resisting or combative suspect by inducing involuntary muscle contractions as shown in this video.
Officer Jason Guffey volunteered to be “tased” by Officer Jeramy Thompson, MPD’s certified firearms & less-lethal weapons instructor.
