Another Domestic Violence Complaint Leads to Arrest

According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron another domestic violence complaint has resulted in a Monticello, KY. man being arrested on several felony charges.
On February 16, 2025, at approximately 11:30 am Deputies Valis Smedley and James Barnett were dispatched to a residence on Kelley Lane / Spann Hill Road for an assault in progress complaint. Before their arrival the Deputies were informed by the Wayne County 911 Dispatch Center that a juvenile caller was stating that the juvenile’s father was punching his mother in the face. Later the mother advised Dispatch that she with her two children were locked in a bedroom and the male had an axe attempting to break into the residence. Upon the Deputies arrival they found the father walking towards his truck sitting in the driveway. Deputies informed the father he was being detained while they investigated the situation. While placing him in handcuffs he began to resist and started assaulting both deputies and making threats. He was then told he was under arrest.
After interviewing the mother and son Deputy Valis Smedley charged and arrested Daniel Rood of Monticello, KY. for assault-2nd degree (domestic violence), assault-4th degree, 2 counts of assault-3rd degree (on Police Officer), unlawful imprisonment-1st degree, public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol), resisting arrest, disorderly conduct-2nd degree, menacing and terroristic threatening-3rd degree. Rood was taken to the Wayne County Hospital for a medical clearance then lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $50,000.00 cash or a 2 times Property Bond.
In an unrelated incident Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron reports the following arrest.
David Towery of Albany, KY. was arrested on a Clinton County Circuit Court Indictment Warrant of Arrest for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia and a traffic violation.
Towery was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
