Monticello Fire Department responded to 4 calls for service on Saturday evening.
#1 Firefighters responded to a small grass fire on Highway 90.
#2 Personnel were dispatched to a possible brush fire on Ridgewood Avenue. It was a legal controlled burn.
#3 The department was dispatched to a trash fire on Vine Street. The fire was extinguished and the resident was educated on proper open burning.
#4 A complaint of smoke in the area of Stokes Street was investigated and an illegal open burn was located. The fire was extinguished and the party was educated on proper open burning.
