(WDRB+WAVE/WKYT) — A Michigan man is behind bars facing multiple felony charges in Louisville, including an assault on a first responder and an alleged kidnapping dating back more than 20 years.
Robert Daniel Swartz, 54, was arraigned Tuesday morning in Jefferson District Court across two separate cases following his arrest on Sept. 21.
According to court records, Swartz was charged with third-degree assault of an EMS, fire, or rescue squad member following an incident Monday.
He was ordered to have no contact with Norton Hospital properties as part of his bond conditions.
Court documents also reveal Swartz was served with outstanding warrants tied to a Jan. 31, 2005 incident.
Police records allege Swartz forced his wife and 1-year-old child into a car at an Amboy Drive residence in Shively, choked and struck the woman, and injected her with syringes in both arms in violation of an active domestic violence order.
The victim eventually escaped from a local hospital, leading to charges of second-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, two counts of kidnapping, witness tampering, terroristic threatening, and violation of a protective order.
A judge set Swartz’s bond at $10,000 cash for each case, with conditions of home incarceration and strict no-contact orders if posted. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 30.
