(WKYT) – Kentucky kicked off its first-ever Unclaimed Property Week on Monday, and it runs through Friday.
Kentucky State Treasurer Mark Metcalf is urging Kentuckians to take a few minutes to search for cash or assets in their name.
To start the week, treasury staff were in Madison County as the first stop on a road show, helping residents begin the process of claiming their property.
“We have returned to Kentuckians as of last Friday; 123.5 million is a state record, and we are very proud of it,” Metcalf said. “One out of seven Kentuckians has unclaimed property coming to them, and most claims are $100.”
Anyone who wants to start the process can stop by the treasury office in Frankfort or visit its website.
