The Monticello City Council meets tonight at 6:00 p.m. Eastern for its regular September session, where members will take up several significant items involving city operations, finances, and upcoming ordinances.
Council members will move through a full slate of department updates, including reports from ABC/Code Enforcement, Police, Fire, Tourism, the Monticello Utility Commission, Street Department, Parks & Recreation, the IDA, CTS, and the City Clerk. These updates typically provide status reports on ongoing projects, enforcement activity, and operational needs across city services.
A series of important ordinances are scheduled for readings this evening. The council will hold the second reading of the Natural Gas RFP Ordinance, followed by the first reading of the city’s Budget Ordinance for 2026‑0810. Also on the agenda are the first reading of a DLG affidavit and the first reading of the Tax Rate Ordinance, which outlines the city’s proposed tax rates for the upcoming year.
The council will also consider opening several new bank accounts, including accounts for Shop with a Hero, the Police Department, and Municipal Road Aid/Street Department funds.
An executive session is planned for discussion of a personnel matter under KRS 61.810(1)(f).
