(WYMT) – A Prestonsburg man is facing a federal charge after investigators say illicit material was discovered on his computer during a search.
Jimmy Ray Brown was charged with possession of child pornography, according to a criminal complaint and affidavit filed by the FBI.
Federal authorities began investigating peer-to-peer file-sharing activity in August, tracing an IP address that exchanged suspected illicit files back to Brown’s apartment on Cliffside Circle in Prestonsburg.
According to court records, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Brown’s home on Sept. 9.
During an on-site examination of a desktop computer found in his bedroom, investigators located files containing child sexual abuse material.
